There are quite a number of videos about it on Youtube, if you wish to know more. People were rightfully angry that there was no way whatsoever to play the game again. It was not very popular when it came out, but it gained a lot of attention after its death. It was so sudden, but also a case where your data was erased from existence. The first one was Darkspore, back in 2016. This is not the first time that I am losing a beloved game. The graphics did not really bother me much, but I know a lot of people that were annoyed by how it looked. Yes, it was outdated by today's standards, it had many bugs and glitches, quests were broken, Gems were a pain to get for people who did not wish to pay real money for them and don't even get me started on the cheaters, hackers or people that were just very rude in the Chat. I am just going to vent a little, so just bear with me. I don't know whether to cry or just rage.
The original game will be shutdown no matter what. The only way that School of Dragons can be revived is through a (technically illegal) fan revival, like how games like Toontown, Club Penguin, and Fer.al have been brought back.īasically, the petitions to stop the shutdown are fruitless. This means that there is no chance of School of Dragons being saved by JumpStart itself, simply because of legal issues. As far as I'm aware, Neopets (the other major "game" & IP JumpStart owns) is in the process of being transferred now (still under the same parent company, but different studio). Since they can't transfer the rights to run a game based off of a Dreamworks' IP (How To Train Your Dragon), as the IP is owned by Dreamworks and Jumpstart is merely borrowing it, they're forced to shut down the game rather than sell or transfer it. All of JumpStart is actually shutting down on June 30th. JumpStart as a whole is being dissolved, likely as a result of the lawsuit that arose as a result of the Neopets data breach that happened in 2022.
